Southface Institute Receives $7,500 Grant from the UPS Foundation

Atlanta, GA – September 17, 2019 – Southface Institute received a $7,500 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE: UPS).

The grant will be used to sponsor the 2019 Southface Visionary Dinner, being held this week on Thursday, September 19. The dinner is an event that raises funds for the nonprofit’s mission-based work in the built environment.

Now in its 21st year, the annual Visionary Dinner is Southface’s main benefit event supporting Southface’s continued work in healthy and efficient buildings, clean energy, high-performance affordable housing, sustainable operations and inclusive communities. Thanks to support from grants like the one from UPS, Southface can continue to positively impact industry leaders; policy makers; design, development and construction professionals; and a growing body of interested and concerned citizens. At this year’s dinner, Southface presents the Argon Award for outstanding sustainability leadership to environmentalist, entrepreneur and author Paul Hawken and his work with Project Drawdown.

“We thank the UPS Foundation for its generous grant, which helps us support our work of ensuring that everyone has access to sustainable and healthy buildings as well as maintaining the momentum of community support for our work towards a regenerative economy,” said Andrea Pinabell, Southface President.

“The UPS Foundation is honored to support Southface Institute’s efforts to promote sustainable and equitable building and community planning practices in the Southeast,” said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation and chief diversity and inclusion officer at UPS. “Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community.”
