As it stands, impoverished communities are disproportionately affected when it comes to stormwater management.

A primary goal of the Institute is to implement, evaluate and sustain a workforce development program that will directly support community enrichment in these neighborhoods and, ultimately, throughout the region. Improving resilience within these communities offers opportunities for economic prosperity and improved health.

Take a Training

GIRI implements Green Infrastructure (GI) Low-Impact Development classes, which include course topics in installation, operations and maintenance of GI Best Management Practices. Southface also partners with a variety of organizations to create a GI workforce training program, with a focus on disenfranchised communities where these jobs may create advantages.
