Through the Grants to Green Program, Southface assists nonprofit organizations in the 23-county Atlanta region in assessing their facilities, identifying and implementing energy-, water- and resource-efficiency upgrades, and adopting sustainability best management practices.

The Grants to Green Program includes two components:

  1. Energy-efficiency assessments provided by Southface,
  2. Implementation grants awarded by The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta to fund upgrades identified through a Southface assessment or other similar energy audit.

"Grants to Green" is a program of Southface Energy Institute, The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and Enterprise Community Partners, undertaken with private funding from the Kendeda Fund.

Assessments

In the assessment phase, Southface provides expert technical assistance, planning facilitation, and staff education for nonprofit organizations seeking to “green” their facilities. Assessments can include energy and water audits with prioritized recommendations or green design reviews and guidance.

Implementation Grants

In the implementation grant phase, The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta provides funding to assist nonprofit organizations with the capital costs of upgrading new or existing buildings to sustainable green standards. The cash grant will pay for the cost of implementing the recommendations that have been identified during the energy and/or water audit or, in the case of new construction, for a portion of the difference in cost between minimally code-compliant design and green design.
