Since announcing Dennis’s plan to retire from Southface last December, we have been collecting mementos which span Southface’s 38 year history. As we dig through polaroids, film rolls, magazines and hand-drawn blueprints from our early years as Georgia Solar Coalition and then later as Southface, we are unearthing gems that showcase Southface’s full history in the environmental movement.
We want to uncover stories, renew relationships and see the impact of the organization as far back and as comprehensively as possible; and we need your help to do it! Your help as a supporter, former staffer, board member or friend can help identify the images and collateral we are finding in the Southface archives.
That’s why the Summer Solstice is going to be more than a member appreciation event this year. In honor of Southface’s history and Dennis’s amazing career at the helm of our nonprofit, we are putting these old pictures on display, and we’re counting on you to help tell the stories that they represent. The solstice will also feature a video booth for Southface friends to record messages to describe how Southface has changed their sustainability journey.
We always say that our greatest asset is our staff. Honoring that philosophy, we are inviting all former Southfacers—interns, staff and board members—to attend and show how far the Southface family extends.
Join us to celebrate Dennis and the Southface History Project. Reunite with generations of Southfacers. Together, we can make history.
