Residential Sustainability Services
Our work is rooted in technical assistance and education for the residential market. From building breadbox solar water heaters to developing the EarthCraft house program with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders' Association in 1999, Southface has been a leader in home performance and health for decades. Today our staff continue to train contractors, builders and architects in the best residential building techniques, and offer great consulting services for homeowners looking to live a more efficient, sustainable lifestyle.
Southface has helped thousands of owners, builders and architects to navigate the building certification process for both regional and national green building programs. We also provide on-site technical assistance, including the physical inspections and verifications often needed for residential green building certifications.
Building research is a key pillar of the Southface mission, and keeps us on the cutting edge of the sustainability movement and environmental thought leadership. Our research programs provide invaluable public-private partnership opportunities to connect federal and state funding with companies looking to enter a new market, test new products or find new applications for their technology.
Whether you are a seasoned home energy professional or new to the home performance industry, Southface offers an affordable rental option for your equipment needs. All rental kits include the necessary equipment needed to complete airflow testing on buildings and HVAC distribution systems.
Southface has been a leader in the HERS industry since the late 1990's, beginning as a Rating Training Provider. Southface fosters a creative, effective learning environment through a combination of classroom learning interspersed with hands-on training tools and software exercises.
Southface offers ACCA approved Manual J load calculations for residential building projects. The analysis can be done "whole house", on a “floor by floor” basis or “room-by-room”. These load calculations will allow you to make a more informed decision when choosing your HVAC equipment.
