This July, Southface hosted another lively BS* & Beer Atlanta event, bringing together builders, architects, energy pros, and curious minds for a deep dive into renewable energy and building science. Held at Southface’s campus in Atlanta, the event featured an engaging panel discussion focused on solar, ground source heat pumps (geothermal), wind energy, and the available tax incentives for both builders and homeowners.

The discussion didn’t just stay high-level — panelists explored the real-world challenges and costs of integrating these systems into residential and commercial projects. The crowd, as always, came ready with questions, many focused on how to incorporate renewable systems into their projects and how changing policies might affect access and affordability.

A huge thank you to Huber Engineered Woods who sponsored July’s gathering and brought their demo trailer onsite, giving attendees a chance to get hands-on with their high-performance AdvanTech and Zip System products — a crowd favorite among builders interested in advanced building envelope solutions.

The monthly BS* & Beer series continues to grow, with pizza, cold drinks, and a chance to connect with the region’s top minds in building science. If you missed July’s event, don’t worry — we’ll be back again like always on the second Wednesday of August (8/13/25) As a reminder, BS* & Beer is always free to attend, and participants are encouraged to bring their beverage of choice to share.
