Winter Solstice 2026
We are thrilled to invite you to Southface’s Annual Winter Solstice Celebration on December 10, 2026. A time to come together and celebrate how our individual actions create meaningful collective impact. The steps we take today shape the future we’re building together, and it all starts with you. As we look toward the new year, we are honored to have you as part of the Southface community.
Please join us for an evening of connection, reflection, and celebration as we share food and drinks, highlight sustainability successes from the past year, and look ahead to our aspirations for 2027.
2025 Fulcrum Award
Georgia Forestry Foundation
The Georgia Forestry Foundation has been working across the state to raise awareness and educate practitioners and foresters on the benefits of building with mass timber through their Mass Timber Hubs and Accelerator program, resulting in a number of new projects pursuing mass timber construction, and through the Accelerator grants, a number of projects that could have built with timber or concrete moving to a mass timber approach.
Jamestown LP
Jamestown LP committed to a timber-first design with their new mixed-use building at 619 Ponce, demonstrating a Southeastern-focused approach to mass timber by harvesting timber from their own timberland in Georgia and producing their mass timber in Alabama. Their approach has greatly reduced the carbon impact of the structure, supported regional mass timber manufacturing, and blazed a trail for future projects to follow.

Why
2024 Luminary Award Winner
At last year's Winter Solsitce, Southface Institute was proud to present our 2024 Luminary Award to the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) for their transformative sustainability work throughout the region. From securing equitable clean energy policies—like community solar programs for low-income families in South Carolina—to expanding solar and energy savings initiatives in Georgia, SELC is shaping a more sustainable energy future. They also help protect vital ecosystems, including Georgia’s Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, and champion rail, transit, and water security initiatives.
