Visionary Dinner 2019

For over 20 years, the annual Visionary Dinner has raised awareness and funding for Southface Institute's continued work to build healthy, vibrant communities across Atlanta and the Southeast. This year, we brought together a few of Atlanta’s finest chefs to curate a farm-to-table inspired meal, complete with local ingredients. In order to celebrate the great achievements in sustainability over the past year, we are proud to honor Paul Hawken and Project Drawdown with this year’s Argon Award.

Honoring Paul Hawken and Project Drawdown

Paul Hawken is an environmentalist, entrepreneur, journalist and author. He has dedicated his life to sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. His practice has included starting and running ecological businesses, writing and teaching about the impact of commerce on living systems, and consulting with governments and corporations on economic development, industrial ecology and environmental policy.

Project Drawdown gets its name from the 2017 book edited by Hawken: “Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming.” The book is a collection of 100 of the world’s most substantive, existing solutions to address climate change, gathered by a qualified and diverse group of researchers from around the world. What they uncovered is a path forward that can roll back global greenhouse gas emissions within thirty years.

Corporate Volunteer Program

This year, Southface debuts a Corporate Volunteer Program for Visionary Dinner Sponsors. We have partnered with the City of Decatur to organize an effort to weatherize and insulate homes. This new initiative gives our longtime supporters a hands-on opportunity to affect positive change in the neighborhoods where we all live, work and play.
