HERS Associate Certificate And Training

SPEAKER:  Mike Barcik and Steve Herzlieb

Have you heard the word HERS rating for home energy and wanted to learn what that means for homeowners and builders? Southface is offering training for a designation for professionals interested in gaining a working understanding of RESNET and HERS. Participants who take the competency test will be awarded with the HERS Associate designation, a prestigious addition to any professional’s resume. This class and the HERS Associate certificate also is for real estate professionals, architects, engineers, code officials, builders, trade sub-contractors, appraisers, advocacy groups, and any other staff who interfaces with HERS Raters and HERS Ratings.

This full day course will introduce RESNET and the HERS Index and relate building science principles to the HERS ratings. The course will demonstrate how the Energy Rating Index (ERI) and HERS Index may be used to successfully design and model houses to comply with the 2015 and 2018 International Energy Efficiency Codes (IECC). Participants will learn how HERS raters produce a HERS Index Score and will review how various components, products, and construction strategies affect the Score. Upon successful completion of a short test at the end of the course, attendees will receive a HERS Associate Certificate of Completion.
