If you work in construction and take pride in delivering homes that are energy-efficient, comfortable, safe and code-compliant, then Duct and Envelope Testing (DET) Verifier training is a great skill to have in your professional toolbox!
This three-day online course is designed to introduce the skills necessary to become a Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) Verifier, certified to perform the diagnostic testing required for new homes by the 2009 and 2012 IECC amendments (content updated for new Georgia 2020 energy code).
Whether or not it’s your job to conduct code-required DET testing, the Southface DET Verifier training is a solid professional development opportunity for anyone in the residential construction industry.
DET verifiers are certified to conduct leakage tests in new homes as part of the IECC testing requirements for air-tightness of the envelope and ductwork. DET Verifiers understand basic building science concepts and math skills related to air leakage, duct leakage and ventilation in homes.
Certified DET Verifiers are required under the building energy codes in Georgia and Alabama, and the certification is recognized under testing requirements for Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Plus, this course prepares participants for the BPI Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification field exam, so it can help open multiple doors to new professional opportunities.
