HERS Combustion Safety and Work Scope Module
New HERS Rater students and HERS Rating Field Inspector (RFI) students - As of 2014, RESNET now requires all newly trained HERS Raters and RFI’s to successfully pass the appropriate 50-question core multiple-choice test plus a practical online Combustion Safety simulation (using RES-CAZ) and a 25-question Work Scope test.
Existing HERS Raters and HERS Rating Field Inspectors (RFI)- are now REQUIRED (by the end of 2014) to successfully complete the Combustion Safety simulation (using RES-CAZ) and the 25-question Work Scope exam as outlined in the latest RESNET standard.
This 2-day course is held at the state of the art Southface Southeast Weatherization and Energy Efficiency Training (SWEET) Center featuring multiple real combustion appliance and house scenarios and actual hands on test equipment as well as the RES-CAZ simulation tool. The course will focus on the Combustion Safety and Work Scope requirements of Chapter 8 of the RESNET Standards. Both exams will be offered in the afternoon of the second day and exam fees are included in the cost of the workshop.
NOTE: If you are an Existing HERS Rater or HERS RFI who is also a BPI Building Analyst, RESNET has determined that this prior combustion testing experience means you are not required to complete the minimum two hours of field testing and may simply opt to take the two proctored exams. Southface offers Existing HERS Raters and RFI’s with this prior experience the opportunity to attend only Day 2 of the training which includes RESNET CAZ content review, brief field practice, additional instructor-led simulator practice, exam review and both proctored exams. Note, the Existing Rater/RFI with prior BPI BA certification is responsible for previously learning the RESNET material. Contact email@example.com to apply for this deeply discounted option.
