Ballethnic Dance Company Inc. is dedicated to creating a space in classical dance for adults and children who are underrepresented by the community. Their mission is to inform, educate, and entertain their community, using their performances as a way to enact social change.

Located in the heart of Atlanta, the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children seeks to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children and to assist in establishing self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive education and supportive services. By participating in the GoodUse program, the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children was able to direct more dollars to their bottom line and increase programming for several community initiatives.

Founded in 2002 by residents who shared a concern about the rapid, unchecked sprawl emanating from Atlanta toward Newton County, the Center for Community Preservation and Planning, located in Covington, GA, offers a neutral environment where citizens, leaders and stakeholders gather to understand and create unique approaches to managing growth and change.

Founded in 1997, the Edge Connection is a training organization committed to launching, growing and sustaining small businesses. The Edge initially provided training and technical assistance to individuals looking to start small businesses through a variety of community entities. As the demand for their services grew, so did their need for a dedicated space for small businesses to operate.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better. While BBBSMAs is committed to improving the lives of the children it serves, it is also dedicated to preserving the environment and employing sustainable practices.

Piedmont Newnan Hospital is recognized for its high-quality, comprehensive healthcare, receiving the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety. Through Southface’s GoodUse (formerly Grants to Green) program, Piedmont Newnan Hospital also gained LEED certification, an internationally recognized program that verifies that a building’s materials and systems are environmentally sustainable. It was one of the first hospitals in Georgia to do so.

At the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville, Georgia, new LED indoor lighting has reduced the environmental impact from energy production and has saved on the bottom line. Made possible by the GoodUse partnership and with product support from GE Lighting, Quinlan will pay about $5,000 less a year to illuminate its building, investing these finances instead in new events and exhibitions.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Shelter provides programs to the homeless population of Atlanta. Red Shield provides 324 beds for families, veterans, men and women struggling with substance abuse. Due to close quarters, dormitory-style living arrangements can spread illnesses easily, such as the flu virus. Because of this, illness is one of the main challenges that residents and staff at the Salvation Army face.

The Place of Forsyth provides emergency assistance for basic survival needs (food, clothing, medicine and financial) and seeks to eliminate hunger, deprivation and homelessness in Forsyth County. As part of its mission, the Place operates a thrift store in Cumming, GA. This facility consumes a great deal of energy through lighting, heating and cooling the store and adjoining offices.
