Southface’s LEED Platinum Eco Office is a model of environmentally responsible construction and demonstrates that green buildings create healthy, productive workplaces that are also operationally cost-effective.
Southface offers guided tours to give individuals, classes and professional groups a firsthand look at sustainable design, building science and resource efficiency in action.
Public tours are led by junior staff and show attendees the features of the Eco Office that allow it to use 50 percent less energy and 80 percent less water than traditional office building of its size. Public tours can accommodate up to 20 people at a time, and they are by appointment only. Admission is free of charge, but participants are encouraged to consider donating $5 per person to support Southface. We are not able to provide tours on the weekends at this time.
We are not currently scheduling tours at this time due to COVID.
For those who work in the architecture, building design or construction sectors — and for members of the public with an advanced technical interest in green building — Southface offers professional tours of the Eco Office by appointment. Led by a staff member from Southface’s Commercial Sustainability Services team, these tours qualify for one AIA/GBCI CEU and allow for an in-depth discussion of the building’s underlying design philosophy, including materials, technologies, building techniques and performance metrics.
General admission for this tour is $15 per attendee, and Southface members, non-profit groups and students are admitted at a discounted rate of $10 per attendee. Professional tours can be scheduled Monday–Friday, 9am-4pm.
