Dennis Creech Emerging Leaders Program

Mission Statement: To nurture, develop and inspire future leaders of the regenerative economy

The Dennis Creech Emerging Leaders Program is a launching pad for young professionals pursuing careers in sustainability. Named after Southface’s co-founder, the program is designed to be a high-quality learning experience in a nonprofit environment, where participants can explore career options and grow their sustainability network.

Emerging Leaders are an integral part of the Southface team and participate in all staff activities. Whether it’s a six-month fellowship or a summer internship, participants will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects under the guidance of capable mentors.

How does the program work?

In addition to working on projects within our teams, Emerging Leaders participate in a variety of professional development opportunities, including:

  • Networking events
  • Technical and soft skill trainings
  • Self-development exercises
  • Off-site visits to other sustainability focused organizations

The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to set participants up for success while at Southface and also prepare them for opportunities that follow graduation from the program.

Expect to work hard and have fun! You will expand your knowledge and use your gifts, talents and skills in significant ways.

What's the time commitment?

Most Emerging Leaders positions require a six-month commitment. Specific requirements and work hours are included in each job description. We have two Emerging Leaders cohorts annually, beginning in January and June, each lasting six months.

When available, internship opportunities are posted on our website, their time commitment aligning with school semesters.
