The Solar Energy Cottage - CASE STUDY
Summary:
The Solar Energy Cottage built by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources with technical assistance provided by Southface and Building Science Corporation is approximately 1,836 square feet. Originally designed to be a three-bedroom, single family home, the cottage is now serving as an administration building for the Steven Foster State Park in Fargo, Georgia. The Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA) and the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Home and Building America Programs funded technical support for the project. The Captain Planet Foundation provided additional resources. The cottage features advanced solar technologies; a non-vented, conditioned crawlspace; and high performance building technologies.
