Dear Reader,

Thanks to our members and partners, Southface has exciting news to report for the New Year. We are pleased to be close to reaching our Eco Office capital campaign goal. We are soliciting our final major gifts early in 2005, and will offer our members a way to become involved shortly thereafter. If you have ideas on how you or your company might want to contribute to our success, feel free to call or visit. Each gift will be matched by the Kendeda Fund to further increase its impact.

In this issue of the Southface Journal you’ll learn more about the unique contractor’s consortium that has formed to construct the Eco Office – beginning in late February. Other Southface Journal features include information and statistics on the growing momentum in support of organic foods. This is an exciting prelude to our March 23 Visionary Dinner. Whole Foods Market, the Whole Foods Chefs Panel as well as Fetzer and Bonterra Vineyards are already hard at work planning a five-course meal that will enable you to “Savor the Sustainable Table.”

We are proud that during 2005, we will offer our members and friends several local opportunities to join national leaders who are transforming the market for sustainability. March 13-15 the National Association of Home Builders comes to Atlanta for its National Green Building Conference. The conference curriculum includes a Southface-sponsored Greenprints track along with numerous other valuable educational opportunities for the residential construction sector. From November 9-11, more than 10,000 commercial design and construction professionals will convene in Atlanta for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild conference, and again Southface and Greenprints will sponsor an educational track.

While we will not host an independent Greenprints conference in 2005, we plan to sponsor a series of green building workshops across the Southeast. Please let us know if you are interested in hosting a program. We will also be developing a series of online green building training modules and information resources.

And of course, we will continue to grow the EarthCraft House residential green building program, especially the community design and affordable housing initiatives.

We appreciate your interest in our work. Please let us know how we can enhance your involvement with us as we promote sustainable homes, workplaces and communities.
