Dear Reader

Since November of 2005, I’ve had the privilege and awesome responsibility of coordinating Southface training events. During the 2005-2006 calendar year, Southface trained over 11,500 design and construction professionals in a classroom setting. This number is equivalent to the average number of housing units in some of our fastest growing counties. Can you imagine a firm with less than 45 employees located in the center of midtown Atlanta conducting workshops and trainings for an entire country within a 12-month period? That’s remarkable!

If we added the number of classroom participants to the number of people participating in tours, home shows, conferences and similar events, the total number of people reached by Southface staff is over 50,000 (more than the population of my hometown, Hot Springs, Arkansas). That’s incredible, but so is our Southface staff!

In the upcoming year, Southface plans to exceed last year’s training numbers. The opening of the Home Depot Foundations Green Training Center in the Eco Office will certainly help. However, we will continue to offer programs “on the road” with partners such as the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), The Enterprise Foundation, Georgia Tech, Melaver Inc., Missouri Electric Coop, NeighborWorks Training Institute, Tennessee Valley Authority and many others.

In this edition of The Southface Journal, you will find a schedule of our four major training programs. This schedule is not an exhaustive list, for we have other classes. If you are interested in a particular class or would like for us to customize a training session for your company, please contact me. Remember to visit our website for our upcoming events and trainings opened to the public.

Hope to see you in our next training session,

Nadine L. Lang
