Water, Waste & Wattage.
by Robin Deutsch, Home Energy Clinic
coordinator
Southface made a splash at the Atlanta
Home Show, September 26-29. Over 6,000 residential home
owners and consumers visited “Water, Waste and Wattage,” a
large-scale exhibit produced by Southface at the Cobb Galleria.
SEMCO Productions, LLC invited Southface to expand our
usual exhibit to include more information on energy, plus
water and resource conservation. The 1,600-square-foot
exhibit included innovative products and demonstrations
by EarthCraft House partners, government agencies and community
groups. Exhibitors offered visitors a range of practical
conservation tips to save money and the environment.
At the core of the exhibit was Southface’s
long running Home Energy Clinic. Southface Energy Institute
and the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority have
collaborated for more than two decades to present the Home
Energy Clinic at home shows and trade shows across the
state, including both Atlanta Home Shows.
The show was a great success, providing
Southface the opportunity to promote the EarthCraft House™ program,
water and resource conservation, and new energy-related
technologies. Water, Waste & Wattage visitors took home
more than 10,000 pieces of information including technical
factsheets, Southface Journals, radon test kits and Home
Energy Project guides.
A special thank you to those exhibitors
who participated in “Water, Waste & Wattage:” Clean Water
Campaign, Cool Communities, Georgia Department of Community
Affairs, Georgia Department of Natural Resources (Pollution
Prevention Assistance Division), EasyLiving Home, Georgia
Native Plants Society, Georgia Solar Energy Association,
Georgia Water & Pollution Control Association, Green Garden

Look for the Home Energy Clinic in
the future at the Remodeling Expo, January 17-19th at the
Atlanta Exposition Center and the Spring Atlanta Home Show,
April 24-27.
