Dear Reader,

I can't think of a more exciting time at Southface. As we enter our 25th year, our organization's mission-driven objectives are becoming more apparent in the marketplace.

This is evidenced by the thousands of people visiting us at regional home shows, the rising number of newcomers joining us at Greenprints, the remarkable growth of the EarthCraft House program and Atlanta's number four ranking among U.S. cities for LEED™ registered buildings.

This means the demand for Southface's educational programs and technical services now is greater than ever. In response, we continue to grow our programs and our staff as the space and technology constraints of our current facility will allow. Despite some apparent growth limitations, Southface is poised on the brink of greatness. We plan to construct a small office facility adjacent to our Midtown Atlanta Energy & Environmental Resource Center. Our new Eco-Office will showcase off-the-shelf technologies to assist the owners and design and construction professionals creating commercial facilities to understand the concepts of energy- and resource-efficient design. As one of four Regional Affiliates of the U.S. Green Building Council, Southface will use our experience as an opportunity to create useful tools and resources for those seeking LEED™ certification.

As we move forward, we would be remiss to forget our humble beginnings as a grassroots, volunteer effort. Southface's members continue to be a cornerstone of our success. Mark your calendar for our membership appreciation events so we can offer our thanks and hear your ideas. This year we will take these opportunities also to celebrate our anniversary and keep you apprised of our new building's progress.
