Georgia’s Coast: A Landscape in Peril

The Georgia coast is a remarkable ecosystem that features more threatened and endangered species than any other region of the state. More than half of Georgia’s land area drains through this area’s rivers and estuaries, which makes the health of coastal water quality, fisheries, and nature-based businesses both a regional and statewide concern.

However, this vital area of the state is growing at an unprecedented rate, and the health of our estuaries and the ocean is in serious decline. Come to understand the underlying trends that are impacting the coast and the planning, policies, and statutes that can turn us in the right direction.
