Southface Provides Expertise, Consultation and Educational Materials at 2003 Southern Building Show

Atlanta-May 5, 2003

Answering questions on topics ranging from mold to insulation to rainwater harvesting, Southface Energy Institute staff will offer advice and provide resources to assist builders at the 2003 Southern Building Show in Atlanta.

In April, Southface Energy Institute and the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association (GAHBA), in conjunction with All American Homes, displayed the All-American EarthCraft House—a three-bedroom, energy efficient, modular home built inside the Georgia World Congress Center. The residential demonstration was a hugely popular attraction. On the heels of this successful public appearance, EarthCraft House and All-American bring their expertise to the Southern Building Show. Southface's acclaimed educational exhibit will feature "off-the-shelf" and practical environmental technologies such as rainwater collection systems, radiant barrier products and residential solar energy systems.

This exhibit is sponsored by Southface and The Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA). Southface staff will be on-hand throughout the show to offer advice and information on integrating environmental technologies into new or existing homes. GEFA Builder's Guides and EPA's Energy Star appliance and window information, extremely useful tools for contractors and do-it-yourself homeowners, will be available for visitors to the Southface/EarthCraft House booth.

Presenting his insight on the Southface/GAHBA EarthCraft House Renovation program, Carl Seville, founder and Vice President of SawHorse Inc., will be a featured speaker at the show. His design/build firm, specializing in residential remodeling, has received more than 75 national, regional and local industry awards and oversaw the pilot EarthCraft House Renovation projects. Most recently, Professional Remodeler magazine featured one of Sawhorse's EarthCraft House Renovation projects as the "2002 Model reModel project."
