2007
EARTHCRAFT HOUSE™ BUILDER AWARD WINNERS
EarthCraft
House builders and sponsors recognized
for
their commitment to “green” building
ATLANTA
(July
9, 2007) – EarthCraft House, a green-building program
of The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and
Atlanta-based Southface, announced the 2007 EarthCraft
House Builder Award winners at the Southern Building
Show and Conference last month.
“EarthCraft House builders are committed to quality
construction that protects the planet as well as the
pocketbooks of home buyers. The EarthCraft builders
who received awards of excellence have earned the respect
of the entire housing industry and we are proud to honor
their accomplishments,” said Southface Executive Director,
Dennis Creech.
The annual Builder Award winners
in six different categories were recognized for their
commitment to environmentally friendly construction.
The Builder of the Year award, won by Custom homebuilder,
Summerfield Homes, acknowledges an EarthCraft House
builder that exhibits excellence in building sustainable
and energy-efficient homes. The Development of the Year
award acknowledges a 100 percent EarthCraft House development.
Pine Mountain Builders won for their Longleaf development
at Callaway Gardens®.The Renovator of the Year award
distinguishes a renovator that is going beyond the established
measures to decrease energy consumption in an existing
home. Pinnacle Custom Builders won as The Renovator
of the Year. The Regional Builder of the Year award
distinguishes a builder outside the metro Atlanta area
that demonstrates excellence in sustainable and energy-efficient
homes. Addison Homes won The Regional Builder award
for developing the sustainability program in an emerging
Southeast market outside the metro Atlanta area.
The Sponsor of the Year award recognizes
a manufacturer that exhibits its commitment to green
building thru the development of green products. The
EarthCraft House program is proud to honor Georgia-Pacific
with this award.
Special
recognition through the newly established, Accolade
Award, won by Oakwood Homes, recognizes a program member
who has created increased awareness market awareness
for green building and the EarthCraft House program.
In
addition to the six awards for outstanding companies,
project managers and builder assistants who oversaw
completion of their projects from start to finish were
recognized.

EarthCraft House is a partnership
between The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association
and Southface. Since the program's inception in 1999,
more than 5000 homes have been certified through the
program. The builder awards is an annual ceremony recognizing
builders, developers, renovators and manufacturers who
are dedicated to sustainable design and construction.
