Chris and Jodi Laumer-Giddens make up the Atlanta-based architecture firm LG Squared, Inc. They recently designed the Proud Green Home at Serenbe, an EarthCraft Platinum net zero energy home.

In 2008, neither Chris nor Jodi Laumer-Giddens had a particular focus on building efficiency or sustainability. Jodi, who started the architecture firm LG Squared, Inc. in 2006, focused on single family homes in the Tampa, Florida area where the couple lived. Chris worked for a large firm focusing on multifamily and commercial applications, but neither of the two designed for optimal resource efficiency.

[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last]During the economic downturn, the couple moved to the Atlanta area in search of a better building market. It was here that Chris met Allison Bailes, a former Southface employee and now proprietor of Energy Vanguard. Dr. Bailes hired Chris to offer HVAC system design assistance to clients. During his time at Energy Vanguard, Chris recognized the growing demand for efficiency in the building market, largely due to an increased sensitivity to utility bills. When Chris’ wife, Jodi, began designing with energy efficiency at the forefront of her mind, Chris joined in to add technical expertise and experience with building science. [/twocol_one_last]
