AIA Convention Meets Refreshed Southface Campus

The Southface campus was included on the convention tour schedule and more than 80 architects came through our buildings to see sustainable design in practice at the Eco Office and SWEET Center. (Energy-efficient) Lights, Camera, Action! A lighting renovation at Atlanta’s historic Fox Theatre

A major lighting renovation is underway at Atlanta’s historic Fox Theatre. The renovation involves replacing 5,500 incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs. When complete, the project is projected to reduce the electricity used by the upgraded bulbs by 80 percent, which will save the Fox over $14,000 annually.

Meet a Southfacer: Maria Quiñones

Maria conducts energy and water assessments for commercial facilities. She provides technical assistance to the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge program for large commercial facilities that have publicly pledged to reduce energy and water use by 20% by 2020. Maria also works with the Grants to Green program for metro Atlanta nonprofits by identifying energy and water conservation projects and providing technical support for implementing resource-saving strategies.
