Building audits and assessments—two terms often used interchangeably—are an effective way to evaluate the source or sources of performance problems within a home or building, and the solutions that best address them.
How We Can Help
Southface has conducted thousands of assessments on single-family, multifamily and commercial buildings. In addition to helping you identify the sources of and solutions to building occupants’ complaints, our building science experts can benchmark your building’s current environmental performance against similar buildings, suggest ways to improve your energy and water efficiency, and assist you in qualifying for ENERGY STAR® or other green building program certifications.
A Southface building assessment provides you with:
- An on-site inspection of your building’s envelope, and its energy and water systems.
- A detailed analysis of where your energy and water dollars are currently being spent.
- Recommendations for cost-effective operational and capital improvements, both small and large-scale.
- An evaluation of potential operational savings that will result from capital improvements and their implementation costs, along with information on potential tax incentives.
"With the recommendations by Southface, we were able to receive a substantial Grants to Green grant to install skylights along with other energy efficiency measures in our warehouse. Our electric bill was 65 percent less than normal after the installation! Southface continues to be supportive and advises on simple things like setting our thermostats for comfort and efficiency!"

The competition “challenged building owners, managers, and occupants to reduce energy and water use, and save money over just 90 days!” Over 800 buildings tracked their performance using ENERGY STAR PORTFOLIO MANAGER in order to increase monthly savings.
