High Performance Building - Design

High Performance Building - Design focuses on strategies for incorporating sustainable design into new commercial buildings. The course curriculum covers the basics of building science and high performance design principles, while allowing participants the opportunity to delve into the critical issues surrounding overall energy efficiency in buildings. The course also reviews major market drivers for the high performance building movement, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), ENERGY STAR, the 2030 Climate Challenge and ASHRAE Energy Design Guides. 

 

LEARN:

Learn effective methods for achieving quantitative results and enhancing building operations. Strategies discussed include creating tight building envelopes, implementing energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems, and integrating a systems-based approach into building design.  The course will also cover qualitative drivers that make high performance commercial buildings stand out.

 

EARN:

High Performance Building – Design is eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from the following organizations: AIA, GBCI and CSI. 

 

Student Requirements:

No previous training or skills are required to attend High Performance Building - Design. However, the course targets building owners, real estate professionals, the commercial building finance industry, code officials and professionals who design and construct commercial buildings. This workshop is also appropriate for those interested in LEED CMP Credits and AIA CEU’s, as well as design and construction professionals seeking to learn more about energy use in buildings.
