ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager – Free Software Tool to Benchmark Energy Performance
A free online software tool.  By entering utility data and building characteristics, a school can benchmark energy performance and receive a rating (0-100) that will determine efficiency of facility energy usage measures as compared to other characteristically similar schools.  Portfolio Manager is great way to benchmark energy use and gauge energy performance as changes and upgrades are made.  Additionally, those that achieve a 75 rating or better become eligible to apply for the ENERGY STAR Label.

EPA’s IAQ Tools for Schools (IAQ TfS) – Resources & Recognition Program
The program serves as an incentive for schools to start an indoor air quality management protocol and is designed to recognize schools for their achievements.  Schools can apply for a variety of awards and receive recognition for starting a program or for showing exemplary improvement in IAQ management.

EPA’s Healthy School Environments Assessment Tool (HealthySEAT) – Free IAQ Assessment Tools
A free, fully customizable and easy to use software program designed to help school districts evaluate and manage ALL of their environmental, safety and health issues.  Download “checklists” for evaluating school indoor air quality (IAQ) concerns.

LEED for Existing Buildings – Rating System for Existing Facilities
A version of the LEED Rating System that enables existing buildings, whether or not previously certified under LEED, to achieve and maintain high performance in operations and maintenance. Includes the same categories as LEED for Schools, but addresses these issues from the perspective of an existing building.
