Southface is proud to work with the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) to provide weatherization training to both new employees and experienced professionals within GEFA’s Georgia Weatherization Assistance Program. This program provides weatherization assistance to low-income families in all 159 Georgia counties to permanently reduce their energy bills.

The Importance of Weatherization

Weatherization is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy bills in existing houses. Southface’s Weatherization training workshops, which are conducted across the state, incorporate audiovisual materials, product displays and hands-on learning experiences.

Weatherization Training Included:

  • New Crew Basics
  • Lead Safe Weatherization
  • Whole House Weatherization

More advanced workshops include Advanced Pressure Diagnostics and Mobile Home Weatherization.

Southface trainers also provide in-field technical assistance and mentoring to each of the 22 service providers in the Georgia Weatherization Assistance Program. The feedback from these in-field activities, in turn, helps Southface enhance the effectiveness of current training workshops and provide valuable feedback to GEFA on future training needs.
