Responsibilities:

The IT Support Generalist will provide user support for systems and networks; assist with the development, implementation and management of IT systems; and be responsible for maintaining day-to-day network and computer support for all Southface employees. Daily activities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software and network issues
  • Assisting all employees as a computer resource
  • Providing on-the-job training and computer orientation to new and current staff members
  • Assisting in researching, planning, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, maintaining and upgrading operating systems and hardware and software interface with the operating system 
  • Recording and maintaining hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security
  • Installing, configuring and upgrading hardware and peripherals to include: network cards, printers, modems, mice and add-in boards 
  • Writing and maintaining system documentation 
  • Assisting with technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current system 
  • Maintaining confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network 
  • Documenting system problems and resolutions for future reference 
  • Performing daily and weekly backups and recovery of critical data

 

Qualifications: 

The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:

  • General working knowledge of hardware and software in a Windows environment, including configuration, troubleshooting and repair
  • Working knowledge of Outlook/Exchange
  • Experience with Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Strong sense of focus and motivation to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations
  • Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Extensive Microsoft application experience, including Office
  • Telecom, VOIP and A/V experience a plus

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work in normal office setting on most days
  • Some light lifting (computers, servers etc.)
  • Occasional travel to local conferences, meetings and trainings

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Occasional supervision of interns

 

Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. with some flexibility. Occasional weekend and evening hours.   

 

Salary and Application Process:

Salary:  $32,000 - $38,000
