How do I find a green job? |
|
|
Although Southface does not offer career counseling services, if you are interested in pursuing a “green job” or joining an industry that is involved in key areas of the green movement, including energy, water and resource efficiency, Southface suggests the following approaches: 1. Take a class or a tour at Southface. We offer numerous courses and classes, from career professionals and for beginners. We also provide weekly tours of our Eco Office. 2. Search online to learn more about businesses and industries that are currently addressing the need for sustainability within their operations. 3. Get involved with some of the sustainability networking organizations in your area and online. Southface hosts the Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable monthly, and also hosts a LinkedIn group for this network. In addition, we have a Facebook fan page that you can join to learn about other events and groups of interest. And of course, you can become a member of Southface to gain access to the programs and information we make available to our members. 4. Make a difference in your own community! There are sustainability commissions in many cities around the country in desperate need of volunteers. There are also numerous community initiatives that need help, from community gardens to Habitat for Humanity; from the promotion of Safe Routes to School to bike safety awareness, to name a very few. Working side-by-side with others who are passionate about sustainability can offer leads to other interesting connections and opportunities. 5. We wish you the best of luck in your job search, and hope you will also periodically check our Career postings for available jobs at Southface. |
