MICHAEL HALICKI

Michael Halicki is a respected public policy and communications strategist with 16 years’ experience working on a range of public policy issues. He comes to Southface from the Atlanta-based public affairs consulting firm Ahmann, Inc., where his client roster has included the Atlanta Regional Commission, Energy Foundation, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Institute of Technology, Livable Communities Coalition, Mothers & Others for Clean Air and the Transit Planning Board.

Prior to working at Ahmann, Michael served as spokesperson for two nonprofits, The Clean Air Campaign and the Georgia Conservancy, and one government entity, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Air Protection Branch. Earlier in his career, he worked for Ketchum Public Relations Worldwide (in Atlanta), serving clients that included the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, MCI Business Markets and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Air Protection Branch.

Michael is a 2009 graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute, a leadership program designed to prepare metro Atlanta’s leaders for the specific challenges facing the region. In 2006, he was selected by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of 40 “Up and Comers” Under 40. He serves on the advisory board of the Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable and the public engagement committee of the Atlanta Education Fund.

Michael also volunteers for a number of other nonprofits including the Civic League for Regional Atlanta (Co-Chair of the 2009 Regional Leadership Day at the Capitol) and the Clean Air Campaign. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University and a master’s in public administration from Georgia State University. Recently, he has also pursued additional professional development opportunities in facilitation, strategic planning and managing collaborative processes.
